John Randolph “Jack” Webb (4/2/20 – 12/23/82) was an actor, producer, director and screenwriter. His acting career starred as a radio announcer in the mid 1940s, which lead to his own half-hour comedy show in 1946. By 1948, Webb was starring as private eye Jeff Regan, which lead to his 1949 series Pat Novak, For Hire and eventually, the role that would make him a house-hold name, Sgt. Joe Friday of Dragnet fame. By the 1950s, Webb became one of the most successful producers of television drama, including Dragnet and 77 Sunset Strip. This collection of radio broadcasts features Jack Webb in many of the shows that made him famous.
